Roswell That Ends Well

We stopped in Roswell, New Mexico to see if we could find my real parents. We were just passing through, we didn’t crash here (get it???). Man, I love this town. They are still into the whole aliens thing here, although I suspect it’s dying down a bit. Still, everything from Arby’s to McD’s and multiple hotels are in on the joke and have alien references somewhere. Even some of the streetlights have alien eyes here, it’s a little ridiculous. Thanks to Shef for pointing that out to me – I wouldn’t have even noticed it. We checked out the UFO Museum and Research Center, which may as well have been called “The Hall of Dubious Assertions,” though were disappointed by the lack of a UFO themed restaurant. I bet a place like that would draw in customers like a tractor beam. Besides the museum the entire downtown is mostly closed souvenir shops, it’s actually a little depressing. But still it’s probably the only place in recent memory where i’ve run around wild eyed and feeling like a kid again. Shefali was a good sport about it, I think she enjoyed it but mostly stood aside and tried not to judge. We headed out after nightfall for Texas since we have a friend outside Dallas, and we even took the back roads hoping that we’d see a flying saucer. Well, I think Shefali took the back roads because that’s where the GPS led her, but I was definitely hoping for an abduction. No probing though, I’m married now. We ended the night in Texas around midnight unmolested and without lost time. I know, total letdown.
