Sorry guys but picture uploads will be super slow or absent till flickr gets its shit together. Anyway we came to Brno on my suggestion based on having been here seven or so years ago. After walking around a bit and getting our bearings, it quickly became apparent that I had never been here in my life. But that didn’t stop us from seeing as much as we could. What stopped us was the hostel. O man. This place is comfy. You know the one in Budapest? Yeah, clear opposite. As you probably guessed, Shefali picked this one for us, and it’s easily the best hostel we’ve ever been to. It’s a small town but it’s got a lot of youth due to the three universities in close proximity… but it’s the summer holiday so it was actually pretty dead here the entire time.
Like any red-blooded American who’s lived in the south for the last four years, I hit the ATM and immediately spent a third of the money on cheap beer and pork cracklins. Not exaggerating even slightly about that. I spent the rest of the stay here eating chicken caesar salads to atone. Not exaggerating about that either. There were a lot of characters at the hostel, a really cool guy from Wales who informed us that The Valleys wasn’t really representative of the Kingdom of Wales (sure buddy, and The Jersey Shore doesn’t actually mirror the Jersey shore…), two kids from England riding across the continent on their bikes (favorite quote – “It’s okay to use a woman emotionally in order to get what you want,” which he somehow delivered without sounding like a complete creep. I think it’s the accent.), a weird Romanian that we couldn’t decide if he was either scary or creepy (or just weird) and a Belgian who would not shut up about himself (unless he was making racist comments about Romanians to the Romanian).
All in all there were a lot of firsts – first hostel bed that didn’t have my spine effectively resting against metal, first time we really got to know some of our fellow travelers, first time in Brno; that’s for damn sure and first bona fide d-bag Belgian. I didn’t think that even existed. You’d think we would get along but he was just a two in my world of ones and zero. Seriously, they guy was a big fat self-obsessed piece of number two.
And by the way, that other place, that I thought was Brno but wasn’t – what do you think? Where was it? Can you guess? Do you know? Seriously, do you know? Cause neither of us could figure it out.
Adventure is a trip.

Was it Bratislava?
It is very easy to get confused about a place when you visit so many places in matter of few months. Important thing is you had a good time. love you both.
